Clay is mixed with limestone and other minerals, including one called gypsum that is added to help the cement harden.

  13. Everday we use washers, toothpaste, and cars for transportation. All these things we do everyday use minerals. I never realized clocks, jewelry and computers were all made of minerals. We wouldn't have most of the things we have today if it weren't for minerals. Minerals in your kitchen are like, spoons, forks, knives, mugs/cups, plates, and glasses. Minerals are used to help make you healthier if you are sick. For health and medicine; thermometers for seeing how high your temperature is when you are sick, plaster casts for when you break a bone, kaolinite is a clay mineral for a liquid medicine and also mercury is used for when you get fillings at the dentist. All of these tings are minerals that we use in everyday life.

  14. I use tungsten and graphite and all kinds of other minerals like that at every day! We use:
-Lightbulbs which are made of tungsten. it's properties are that it is hard and has a very high melting point.
-Pens and Paper are made from tungsten aswell. The properties for these things is it is strong, rigid and impermeable.
-Paints and pencils which is made from a combination of clay and graphite which is a type of carbon. the properties of these are that it's soft, easily powered and opaque.
These are just some of the things we use everyday at home. i never knew that all these minerals are in so much that i use all the time.

The bricks and tiles are made from clay which is also a mineral which are used for the walls and floor. Plaster are made from powdered gypsum is heated and then mixed with water, The pipes made from lead, and Windows are made from glass.

im not really sure how they shape light bulbs since tungsten has the hightest melting point of all metals. what the website told me is that since light bulbs get very hot tungsten is a great metal to use for them since they high melting point. they use tungsten in the filament in light bulbs. the filament is the threadlike conductor.

Crockery such as plates, bowls, cups, saucers and mugs are made of clay minerals. Drinking glasses are usually made of quartz. Pots and pans are made from metal such as,stainless steel, cast iron, copper or aluminium. Cans and tins are made of aluminium. Cleaning products are made of minerals such as, clay minerals and calcium carbonate. Another mineral commomly found in the kitchen is salt its mineral name is halite.

  55. We use many minerals around the house, but what are they? Some things we use in the house are lightbulbs which use tungsten in them. Tungsten is a metal, wolframite and scheelite are the main ores of tungsten.

We also use pens and the tips of a pen are also made of tungsten, and the main ores of them are wolframite and scheelite.

In a house we may use paints and pencils which are called lead pencils, it isn't really lead they actually are a mixture of clay and a mineral called graphite which is a form of carbon.

Many things in a house use batteries which is made of nickel the minerals that make that are called garnierite and Pyrrhotite and pentlandite. This minerals are what help make nikel which is what bateries are made of.

When it comes to gardening we use clay minerals to make flower pots that can hold our flours.

We use minerals everydat around the house, and sometimes we don't even know it. I am amazed how many different types of minerals we actualy use in a house.

  106. The minerals that I use every day in the kitchen is Cultery(forks, knives, spoons etc.) They are made of stainless steel. Stainless steel is strong, rigid, hard, and does not rust. Another is Pots and Pans. They can be made from; metal, stainless steel, cast iron, copper or aluminum. Even the non-sticking coat is made from fluorine. These minerals are strong, imperable, does not rust, and conducts heat. The tips of pens that we use are made from tungsten. Tungsten is strong, rigid, and imperable. There are so many things that I/we all use everyday that we don’t know are minerals.
@ Sara Dirr it is weird to think that whenever we eat we are eating off of minerals and steel!
