What are the ingredients for the perfect tornado?  Why is May the key month?  What is the difference between a super cell, a tornado and a wind shear?

Super cell- A type of thundertorm that has rotation which in turn(hehehe) causes tornadoes.

Increrasing warmth and humidity is one thing for the perfect tornado. The sun is higher in the sky in the south also. The warmth also spreads to the plains and the midwest, this is where most tornados are. A super cell is a severe thunderstorm that can produce severe weather like large hail, damaging straight-line winds, and all violent tornados. A tornado is a column of air that violently rotates in contact with and extending between a convective cloud and the surface of the earth. This is the most destructive storm. Tornados can happen in any state but it just needs the right weather conditions. A wind shear is the rate of wind speed or direction change with distance.

The ingredients for a perfect tornado are, 1. May's incresing hot and humid air, May's cold, dry air aloft plowing over the top of warm, humid near-surface air, and
3.The last ingredient is the role of nearsurface boundaries, like warm and cold fronts, dry lines, prefrontal troughs, and thunderstorm. A tornado is caused with hot and cold air, super cells are thunderstorms, and a wind shear is when strong jet streams enhance in both wind speed and direction... with height.

May is the peak month for tornadoes, almost doubling the average of April. So, if we thought April was bad, then we are in for a wake up call if May follows the regular routine. Although we are not in the tornado alley, we are still in the greater risk for tornadoes.

One reason for the tornadoes to form in May because the temperature is beginning to rise, and then once the temperature rises, it spreads to the plains in the Midwest, then, there is a basis for severe thunderstorms.

Another reason, is that the jet stream is still energetic, causing the cold dry air to 'plow' over the top of the warm/hot humid air.

One last reason May's averages are so high is the 'role of near surface boundaries' which includes warm fronts, cold fronts, dry lines, pre-frontal troughs, and thunderstorm outflow boundaries.

Wind shear is the rate of wind speed or direction that changes with distance.

A tornado is a cone or column of air, normally the result of a severe thunderstorm, that causes damage and has very high speed winds.

A super cell is a severe thunderstorm that can produce the most violent tornadoes.
