World Space Week

Last was world space week (Oct 4 - 7)  Read the following article.  How many of the questions can you answer?  Do some research to answer as many questions as you can.

World Space Week

What do you think should be done with old satellites?  What responsibility do we have to outer space?  What should be done about our trash problem on Earth?

I think what the university did was fine. We should do this with other stellites to prevent space pollution. On earth, we should use mostly biodegradable products to reduce over flowing land fills. Outer space is our responsibility, because we discovered it. If don't do something to reduce trash on earth and in space, the entire world will be full of trash!

Emma this is for next week. Concentrate on Goldilocks and Star is born. But I am glad to know that you feel that we should not pollute space. I like the idea of biodegradable products

I think the they should go up there and move the Satelites. We, have a responsibility to protect and keep the Universe/Solar System clean and safe. Get rid of it, because it's a big problem, it deals with polution.

that is so cool how there needs to be molecoles to be able to hear sound and i think i did hear about how satalites are just floating out there just being debre and i think its is very cool that they sent a parchute out there to at least get some of the debre out of there and just a little can help alot and it does show that they at least do care about the enviroment

I belive this pklanet could contain life because theres water on the planet. I was wondering how they predict what the planet looks like. I can't belive that they tink people could live on it. I think it's interesting that this planets orbit is around a star.

i think our trash needs to be cleaned up and fast every day more truck loads of garbege to sites and every day factorys make more thing for use to use and throw away this world will only give us so much

I thimk that old satelites should be brot back down to earth and reused so they do not go to waste. Explore it carefully and not damage it as we have done to the earth. I think we should start using biodegradable things like paper bags instead of plastic bags, or try not to burn as much fuel. Also DO NOT cut down the rainforest because the is where most of the air that we breath is from.

PAPATHANAS,ANTHONY said...

I think that the old sattelites should be brought in because they can be a real hazard to other plantes and also shuttels. We have to keep outer sapce clean spo other people can see it to. The problem on earth is that we need to go green and recycle.

PAPATHANAS,ANTHONY said...

I agree with dylan its very cool how they found hout a way to take the old sattelites down and ike he said it does show that some people care about the universe.

I think we should recycle the old satellites, like maybe we should make bottles for drinks or something. We have the responsibility to clean up space since we're the ones who messed it up in the first place.Three words reduce, reuse, recycle! We need to do all those things but alot of people find it inconviniant so they produce alot of trash and pollution because they're LAZY.

I think we should take some of the old parts of atalites to make new satalites and other things. i also think maybe to study the metals to see if they have bacteria or anything on them from space. we have the responsibility of takinng care of our planet. we are not being so succesful on some things like our trash problem. we should start givin out tickets for people who dont do the right thing for our planet. we should award the people that love and respect our planet. their are consucuences when we litter for example if we throw food by the road animals can get ran over and sometimes that can danger us.

i actually think his is a good idea....
we cant have space satelites floating around aimlessly.
if you wanted to go to space and you saw all these old unused satelites around i dont know bout you but i would get mad.

space is very beutiful just like earth and we have to potect it.

WEll WHAT I would do with the satilites i would send somthing up there and drag it back down to earth and take it to a recylcling plant and recycle it or make somthing new out of it and with the trash on the highways and on the streets in our neibrohood i would set up somthing i would call trash watch and when you see someone throwing trash on the streets or highway i would alert the T.W. .........

I found it interesting that there is no sound in space; I never knew that and now I even know why. I also think that the reason space appears black is interesting. I learned that the reason that space appears black is because there is no atmosphere.

Oakes, Ally said...

I completly agree with Emma. I think that we should do what the university did is very important because like Emma said, if we don't start cleaning up soon, everything will be full of trash.

Emily Renee Heckman :) said...

Emma is completely right. The university is doing well. And the fact that we're polluting space as well with old sadelites just plain old disgusts me! First Earth, and now space. How much worse can this get?

Kylie Hayes said...

I agree with Emma. We are alreadu ruining the Earth with all our trash, now with those stellites we are trashing space. Hasanyone ever seen wallie? I prefer to live on Earth not space. The university s doing great thing trying to clean up, Another thing.... what would happen if those stellies came crashing into Earth? What would happen then? Then agagin the machine they use to pull these stellites incould hurt more then help. What if they had the stellite but then something happened to the machine and it wen Hay-wire and the stellite crashed into the Earth? There are two solutions to this issue, 1. try to get these stellites in with the university's machine. or 2. let the stellites stay out there and see what happens. I think we should try to take the stellites out.

I think what the university did was the a good idea because pollution in space is very high.I tink we should do this to other satelites so we don't make more space pollution.

I agree with Emma Cliffe that we should clean up space bacause we discovered it ourselves, and if we don't we won't be able to space anymore.

i think thaat is kinda cool what the universey did i never knew there was a world space week til now aahaha our planet is very fragile we need to stop the littering and also reduce to so there isnt a huge dump with things that the poor could use,,,,, RECYCLE!

I think that the old satellites should be recycled and made into new ones, or should be made into new things we need here on Earth. Their metal could be very useful to both outer space and Earth. I think we should take all the satellites that are just floating around as space debris and recycle the metal. Humans are so wasteful here on Earth and we should take after the university and do something about it. The university did something to make a difference so space isnt polluted like the way Earth is. We observe outer space so why shouldn't we fix the problems we see? Outer Space is our responsibility because we observe it everyday and we're the ones who found it. We need to take care of it. We can do this by being more like the university. Also on Earth because we just keep being wasteful and let trash build up and if we don't fix our way of living, the whole universe will be disgusting.

Ryan, Marissa said...

I agree with Emma. We need to reduce the land fills but more than anything, keep them from building up more and more. The land fills grow with trash every day and it's only getting worse so why dont we all do something about it already? Not enough people care about the pollution and the Earth's trash that it'll be disgusting in a few years.

Kylie Hayes said...

@Marissa Ryan,
I agree with you that we should bring the stellites in to reycyle them but what if something went wrong and they crashed? No one has ever tried taking the stellites down so there is no proof that it would be safe.

I think that we should recycle some of the partys of the satilites so we can use it later if we need for another satelite or something. We should do this with other satelities too so we dont create any garbage in outer space.Outer space is our responsibility because humans were the ther ones who discovered it. If we dont do something to reduce waste and trash on Earth and in space then we would be living in a garbage dump.

Royer Rachel said...

To Emma:
I believe with you about about the biodegradeable products to help reduce over flowing land fills. That would be a great idea. Why hasnt any scientists tried that idea? You never know maybe that wouls solve a lot of pollution problems here on Earth. Also you are right about if we dont do something about then garbage in Earth and in outer space then our entire world be garbage everywhere.

I totally agree with you that we were the ones to discover it so we should be taking care of it. I think We should recycle the old parts so we don't have to keep spending on new parts.

Kamilah Williams said...

we should recycle old satilites. and with all the trash on earth it might pollute the air we breathe and we might end up looking like in the movie walle and i dont want to go to outer space and sit in a chair all day long and be fat i need my exercise. if we thew trash on the ground then you mind as well call earth the dumpster planet

Kamilah Williams said...

jenna duebber how did you know the temp. in outer space any way

Space appears black because it lacks an atmosphere, which prevents light from scattering and instead focuses the light on one spot in the universe. Earth's atmosphere causes light to reflect and refract, which illuminates our planet.

I wonder what will happen if we pollute space. Anybody know?
