Erosion and Deposition
When you hear the word erosion, what do you think? What about deposition, what does that word mean to you? Do you know anything that either of these two processes create? Is there anything you would like to do in class when learning about erosion and deposition?

erosion is the decomposion of rocks caused by water wind and rocks rubbing together this means that when water hit rock and keeps on flowing through the rock it weres and tears away at the rock
I think erosion meanes the earth going through another cycle. Depostion means depth your in. I would like to do a prodject on erosion deposition.

When I hear erosion, I think of 'rotted away'. Erosion reminds me of when the dirt on steep hills fall and when trees fall off of slopes and hills. Almost like the soil is moving and rotting away and falling. The word deposition means to give or put into, like deposit, to me. I am not 100% sure what these two processes create. I think we should do experiments with soil and the ground in class, because it seems like it would be easiest to learn and it seems like both of those processes have something big to do with soil.
erosion is when the wind waves and such erodeor take away land. the land begis to get rough on the area in which it was eroded.
Deposition is when things like soil are deposited throughout other areas.
uhmm... i know i learned about erosion and deposition but im not 100% sure what they are. i think erosion means the breaking down of land forms from water. i am not sure of what deposition means.i do not know anything that either of thoes processes creates. i would like to learn more about what erosin and deposition really is and maybe have some examples of what they are and some experiments
well yea the grand canyon was made by erosion. thank you captin obvious for the information. also if a water keeps droping it will make a dent in the stone after a long time
When you hear the word erosion, what do you think? What about deposition, what does that word mean to you? Do you know anything that either of these two processes create? Is there anything you would like to do in class when learning about erosion and deposition?////// When i here erison i think wereing away and when waer weres away rock on a water fall but it takes over 1 million years to softena rock by water. but when i think or here depostion i draw a blank
that last5 post was to tony
when I hear of erosion I think of canyons and when I hear deposition I think of nothing because I dont know what it is.I want to make a mini canyon in class
When I hear erosion I think of the process of breaking things down.
When I hear deposition I think of erosion carrying sediments from one place to another and the sediments are left there.
I think that erosion and deposition can cause landforms in new areas.
I want to do lots of expierments involving erosion and deposition bcause I think just reading about them can get very boring.
When I hear the word erosion I think that evaporating or disolving and wearing away. I think of depositation as deposite. I would to do experiments on both I think it would be interesting to see.
When i hear erosion i think about the way rock and minerals change with alot of time. Like Anthony said the grand canyon is a perfect example of erosion. When i think of deposition i think of the washing away of small solids.I would also like to do labs on the subject.
when i hear the word erosion i think of mud slideds. when i hear the word depision i think of how deep something is. i dont know anything that happens during the processes, but i would like to learn more. i would like to do activites the are not just a paper.
~Daniel O'Hearn~
I agree with antony papathanas I think of erosion grand canyon comes into my mind to. How the water carves it its cool.
By: Ted Young
Anthony:
I agree with you about erosion helping cause the Grand canyons and other natural landforms.I also agree with you about the expeierments during class because erosion and deposition can get boring at times.
Do you have any ideas about deposition?
@ted
what do you mean when you say the earth is going through an another cycle? i thought erosion was when the wind and water breaks down landforms.
After reading the article for the other post all depostiton is is the begginig of erosionthank you haliey for also telling me.
When I hear erosion i think of the proccess of things being broken down. Erosion reminds me of when something like a rock falls down a mountain and makes other parts fall braking down the mountain. The word deposition means to give or put I do not completely understand what this word means. I think we should do experiments with soil and rocks or other natural material to learn more and be able to understand better.
i think of rocks and how they fade away from erosion. depositation- i think of when rain or other sources deposite to rocks, dirt etc. these two process rocks or sand. in class we could take dirt or rocks and pour water over them all the time.
I agree with Tony on the most commonly known erosion is canyons but erosion is every where
When i hear the word Erosion i think about montains crumbleing away.
When i hear the word Deposition i think of removal from postion.
Erosion is the process by which the surface of Earth is worn away by the act of, land, water, glaciers, wind and ect.
In class to experience Erosion and Deposition i would like to do experiemnts.
Ethan Meurcrio
When i hear erosion i think of mountians because they get broken down into smaller hills over time. I don't know about deposition. I would like to do a lot of cool experiments.
And yes drew i knew about erosion but thanks for the ingformation about the water dripping not like I didnt kow that. Thanks Captin obvious.
evan, i think it would be cool to make a mini canyon is class to. and see the cycles that erosion goes through.
~Daniel O'Hearn~
When I hear erosion, I think of things rotting away. Chuncks of rocks falling off cliffs or rivers with the water eroding away of the ground. I also think of the grand canyon, and how water and wind carved it into what it is now. I don't know exactly what each term means, but I will obviously learn this section. In class I would like to do a variety of things including expiriments or lots of hands on things. I would not like that much reading out of the book, because I get bored with that. I also kind of like the investigations, but not the worksheets that go with them.
Rachel i agree with you when you said deposition was erosion carrying sediments from one place to another and the sediments are left there. I never thought of it this way. I still am wondering what it really is though.
@ Madison - good way to think of erosion. I have never thought of it that way before, but I might start using that analogy in my teaching. Thanks
Sydney, I agree with what you said about the exprirments, that we should use natural materials to learn more about these terms. I think that expiriments leave a lasting effect, whereas reading out of the book goes in one ear ad out the other.
When i hear the word eroison i think of a cliff being hit with pebbles, water, wind, ex. Just those stubsenses right there are enough to wear things downs. It would take a very long time though.
Anthony i thought weathering cause the grand cayon to form or carved it how it is now not erosion. I thought weathing was when the wind or water hit something and broke it down. Is weathering erosion or are they diffeerent topics?
@Ted
I agree with Anthony to but it is not just the water that Erodes the Grand Canyon it is the wind and naturle disasters that happen and can cause Erosion too.
@ Evan hopefully we will make a mini canyon in class. We will be working with water and sand so lets see what happens
Tony, I like how you used the gand canyon as a comparison, that ws a good way of thinking of it, good job:)
@Ted
Erosion happenes from Wind, Water, Glaciers, Landing rubbing together and ect. It really doesnt have to do with the Earth going through its cycles
When I hear erosion, I think that dirt and rocks are turning into dust. Erosion is kind of like when thing kind of fall apart or rot away. It takes many years to go through this prosses. The word deposition means like your decomposing, almost like your undoing somthing I guess. I don't really know what thesse to prosseses create. I think they might have the same effect just in a different prosses. I would like to watch videos or do experiments because I think those two ways are probablly the easiest ways to leanr about the two prosseses.
When i hear the word erosion I think of things breaking down like a rock that falls and cracks or soil being washed away by rain. When I hear of the word deposition I think of something being given. I am not sure what they create but maybe they can cause new land areas. I would like to do any activites in class with erosion and deposition and not just read about them.
Tommy,
If we did labs on this subject it would probablly take really long beause erosion takes a very long time to happen. It might be fun though to see how it works.
Sydney,
I think we should do more activites like that cause it wouyld be way more understandable than sitting and listening to someon read.
Some people may think of Earth Science as being a bit boring, because you don't do as many explosions as let's say Chemistry. Hopefully we will do more hands on acitivties with Erosion and Deposition
I agree with Ethan because I also think there can be natural disasters that can cause erosion. Also weathering can cause erosoin.
Madison,
I'm not really sure what erosion and deposition create either. Maybe they have something to do with creating land or different land forms.
Anthony, I think of the same, the Grand Canyon. With all of the rock washed away, you can really see the layers and layers and layers of rock that builds up.
At Deborah;
I think we should do experiments too. It would help a lot with understanding and I really enjoy doing experiments.
Anthony,
I agree with you when I hear erosion I always think about how something carved it or what happened like the grand canyon. Doing experiments in class would be fun.
i agree with anthony that the grand canyon is a perfect example of erosion. because of all its layers you can see the erosion.
Sydney, I agree with you and Rachel;
When erosion carries sediment from place to place, I never thought of it like that, I just thought of it as rocks or something falling off a hill or mountian, and maybe creating sand or something. I like looking at it as carrying sediment.
when i hear the word erosion i think of things like large rocks, mountians, boulders and rivers or streams eroding.
Adam lyons
@ Mrs. Martz;
I do not think of earth science as boring, at all. I think earth science is the most interesting of all subjects. I really like learning about the universe and the earth.
I agree with george i dont really know the process but i assume its the same resolt.
george i think about rocks turning to dust and mountians turning to hills.
Adam Lyons
i agree with ted because i think that deposition means the depth you are in
When I think of EROSION I think of breaking down landmasses. Deposition to me means of land remains carried to another strip of land. Erosions can cause mudslides and make mountains into hills. Deposition can cause wetlands, and the Louisiana Bayou. What I would like to do in class is to do a simulator, or even watch a Bill Nye on Erosion.
When i hear erosion i think of mountians and cliffs because they get broken down into smaller hills over time and cliffs i think of smaall rocks rolling down it. I don't know about deposition. i dont really think of deposition as much as erosion
It's rue that the grand canyon was caused by wind and water, but earthquakes can also play a key role in building, more of like deconstruction. Mabey the Grand Canyon was a fault line and then a small stream formedabove the canyon, then over the years the crevice got bigger.
YAHANZ VELASQUEZ when i hear the word erosion i think of rocks smoothing out and looking like part of them disapeared.
deposition makes me think of things getting picked up from its original position.
erosion weathers things down and deposition breaks things down.
i would like to actually break rock or somthing down.
YAHANZ VELASQUEZ
First core had great responses today. I hope that second core can keep up the good work
When i here the word erosion i think of the grand canyon because water and wind carved in and deposition is when soil in deposited through out other areas.
David Meiners
when i hear the word erosion i think of wearing away of things which is what it is.when i think of deosition i wonder because i dont know what deposition is.erosion prosseses cliffs or rivers it wears away rock. I would love to learn about them in class especially deposition.
hunter steimle.
When erosion comes to mind I think of the process of weathering and the transportation of solids. It usually occurs due to transport by wind.
Deposition- when things such as soil are deposited throughout other areas.
These two processes work together to change earth's surface.
When I think of the word erosion, I think of the ground slowly being weathered away. When i think of the word deposition, I think of soil building up at the end of a river. I know that erosion shapes mountians. I would like to do something hands on to learn more about erosion and deposition.
Tony P,
I agree with you that the grand canyon was carved by wind and water but deposition is when soil and stuff like that are deposited throughout other areas.
David meiners
When I hear erosion I think of rocks being wore away. I most likely heard of deosition at school but I dont know what it means. Erosion is the procces of land being wore away from water or wind. I would like to learn more about deposition in class.
anthony, i agree with you and stephinie the grand canyon is an awesome example for erosion alot of it happens there
hunter steimle
I agree with both Anthony and Rachel, I would like to do more than just research on erosion and deposition, projects could be more fun to do. (expirements)
when i hear of erison i think how the water and wind smoothed the rocks and how a part dissapeerd i forgot about depostion in class i probly wouldnt like to do anything christian bond
I agree with Ally in witch we both think of erosion as rock being weathred away.
When i hear the word erosion i think of the earth roting away. This word reminds me of what cause a landslide also i know that erosion is the world roting away slowly over time it is caused by wind ,rain ,ice ,and snow. I also think natural desasters are caused by erosion. I hope i learn more about erosion that i dont already know.
Kelly Rogers
Erosion is when water, wind, or sand wear away at a surface. Examples would be: Sandblasting, a stream wearing away at rocks, or wind blowing at high speeds carrying sediment. I am pretty sure that deposition is when sediment is carried by wind or water and deposited in one area. I usually think of the Grand Canyon when I hear erosion.
Posted by: Sam Tendam
1. rocks getting wore down by rushing water. 2. 3. 4. yes i would like to learn more about deposition because i dont know anything about it
When I hear the word erosion I think of, the wearing away of the rocks on mountains and hills.I don't really know what deposition is.
I agree with Anthony because erosion did shape the Grand Canyon. Erosion also sghaped mountians and many other things too.
when i hear erosion it reminds me of the wear of rocks , the water rushing through rocks and making them crack. i dont know what departure reminds me of.
I agree with anthony p. I would also like to do more expirements. And also i like your thinking on the grand canyon thats a cool comparison.
Kelly Rogers
When i hear erosion I think about rocks being brocken down into things like sand. I also know that what causes this proccess of erosion is wind and water. I am not really clear on deposition. I have heard this before though. I would like to learn more about thesev topics by doing labs such as an expeirement finding out how water and wid cause things like boulders and rocks to ware down into stuff like pebbles or sand or small rocks.
- Michael Van Schoik
drew i agree erosion is the carving of rocks by wind and water
@ anthony papathonas i agree with anthony when i first heard erison thought grand canyon nothing in my mind stood out about depostion cause i dont rember it i guess but i wouldent like to do a lot of expirments
When I here the words erosion and deposition I think of rivers rushing over mountians through valleys and carring rocks and sediment downstream then being deposited on another river bank some were far away. Erosion and deposition create valleys, rivers, caves, deltas, lakes, beaches, and canyons. I would like to make a model to represent the process of erosion and deposition in class or for a science project.
Candi Sheehan
Evan Triplett,
Deposition is when sediment is carried by wind or water and deposited at some point. I too would like to make a mini canyon in class. That would be really cool, but it would take a long time. We probably wouldn't be able to see it form completely because it takes so long. We would probably die long before.
Posted by Sam Tendam
I think of Creeks, Streams, and Oceans. I have no Idea of what deposition might possiboly mean. I know that erosion smoothens rocks and basicly cuts through huge peices of rocks like the Grand Canyon
Jarod Francis
erosion is when a rock is broken down or worn away by wind, water, or by other rocks.
i honestly have no idea what deposition is.
i think the best example for erosion is the grand canyon. it took like millions of years for the river to break the rock down.
When i hear the word erosion i think of the grand canyon. I am not sure what the word depostion means to me. I am not sure what these to create. i would like to some experiments and stuff with the soil and the ground.
Tony I agree with you when I think of erosion the first thing that pops up in my head is the grand canyon
Jarod Francis
Anthony I completely agree with you on that. When I think erosion i also think about the Grand Canyon. The canyon was forme by water carving through rock like carving pumpkins. The collorado river ran through it cutting it and mak8ing it a big canyon. It changes over the years. It is a very fascinating process
- Michael Van Schoik
@ anthony- Erosion did shape the grand canyon and alot of other mountains and other things.
there are alot of types of rocks all made from erosion.
i agree with anthony. i would too like to do a expirement in class about erosion.
When I hear the word erosion I think it has something to do with evaporated water carving rocks. Deposition reminds me of erosion flowing through the rocks.
Another example of erosion is rock slides or mud slides.
- Michael Van Schoik
when i hear the word erosion i think of the wear of the earth and the water rushing over hard ponty rocks and makin them smooth. i have never heard the word departure before so i have no clue what it means. i think we should do a activity where we poor water into a material and see what happens.
jr miller
one of the reasons there is so much erosion is because of deforestation. When people cut down trees there is nothing to hold the soil in place so it can be blown away by a strong wind or washed away easier
Candi Sheehan
Madison S. I kinda agree with that how you thought erossion is like rotting away. When water erotes rock the rock kinda rots away into debris.
- Michael Van Schoik
i agree with valeree erosion did shape the grand canyon
I agree somewhat with Hailey Hoover. But I thought erosion had something to do with rocks. And I thought that deposition had something to do with how erosion flows through rocks.
The Grand Canyon is the first thing that comes to mind when talking about erosion because in the past years of learning about erosion, the Grand Canyon has been one of the most popular examples of the topic. Erosion is the wearing down of rock by wind and water over a period of time. The river that flows through the Grand Canyon has been wearing down the rock over many years. To be honest I don't remember much about Deposition. I think it has to do with the spreading of minerals or other substances. I'm not sure what the two processes create.
when i here erosion i think about rocks and the grand canyon like water and wind how they shape rocks are really cool looking. idont know what depostion is but if i would have to guess i would say its probaly something like erosion. like anthony i wouldnt mind having some expirements in class and get to know some more about these two things erosion and deposition.
chase pearson.
When I hear Erosion, I think of being in 4th grade learning about it for some reason and I also think of things breaking down, and to me, deposition means to give but I'm not completley positive. And I'm not really sure what those two processes create.&& I agree with Madison's first post, I think we should do experiments in class because I think it would be fun, and we would learn more by experiencing it.
-Corissa Sturm,(:
When I hear the word erosion the first thing that comes to mind is a river geting deeper and deeper over a long period of time. I don't know what the word depoition means but I look forword to learning about it. I think that we could simulate what a river would be like after a while.
Anthony,
Like I mentioned in my post, I think of the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon is very popular with erosion. The river that flows through it has been wearing down the rock over a long peroid of time and now the space between the rocks of the Grand Canyon are very large. This is because the rock just wears down more and more and never really stops. In class, I would like to do a project in class of some kind that extends so we can observe the erosion to show us how it really effects the rock.
When i hear the word erosion i think of mountains and things just breaking away.I also think of the grand canyon. Erosion makes me think of mudskides or a tree falling from wind or part of a mountain breaking down.when i hear deposition i think of erosion taking away something and leaving some behind. I dont really know what both of them make.
~Kailey Carter~
I agree with Anthony erosion makes me think of the grand canyon too.
I agree with corissa I think the word desosition means to give, or to pile on like in a eroding river more durt could find it;s way into the river preventing erosion.
There are still people posting without typing their name somehow in their post. I can not give you a grade without a name
Erosion- to me the definition of Erosion is that, its when a long dry season or a very long rain season. Erosion, is when a rock or something else deforms, or forms a different way. Also, when it is permantly damaged from the rain or the dryness.
I agree with Anthony:
Because thats almost the same thing I said, but a little differently. My version of erosionis very close to his, but then again I could be wrong.
When I hear the word Erosion, I think of roads, rocks, and the Grand Canyon espescially. I also think about cliffs because the wind has eroded away the rock and dirt. Erosion is the decomposition of rocks and other natural items. Wind is what causes erosion. I think decomposition is where dirt and other items fall into the water banks of a delta and the delta drops off the silt and other substances in the delta banks. But, I'm not sure if that's the right definition of depostition. In class I would love to research on the computers about depostion and erosion.
When I hear the word erosuion I think of the grand canyon and how the wind and how the earth formed it. I have know idea of what deposition. I have know clue the two processes to create. I would like to do experiments about it because experients help me more.
when i think about studying erosion i think oh great here we go now we have to study erosion for like the 5th time more looking at pictures and reading from books. but what i would like to do while studying erosion and what i think would help us remember and be more fun is to like do experiments with like pennys and rocks and studying how erosion works instead of reading about it from a book.
-Dylan Humbert
To Ted: What do you mean by deposition, the depth were in.
i herd the word erosion about the grand canyon becuase the water is wearing away at the rocks whitch is erosion. the deffition is gradual breaking down and wearing away of rocks.
Amanda:
I would love to hear what your definition of Erosion and Depostion is like because I am interested in what everybody has to say. :)
-Emily Heckman
When I hear the word erosion I think of the wearing of objects. When I deposition I think of the decoposing of living things. Yes I know what one of those create or prosses and that is Erosion. Watch a Bill Nie video on Erosion.
Alex Richmond
i agree with you anthony i would also like to d exmperiments in class and when i also hear the word erosion i do think of the grand canyon also how big it is and how the wind andw ater also carved it
-Dylan Humbert
when I think of erosion I think of land breaking away from the earth. I honestly don't remember what depsition is. The process of erosion I think is when water rubes over rock adn the rock or dirt erodes or seperates from the earth. I'm not realy sure what activaties we could do in class.
Ryan Bussard
When I hear erosion I think of the word erodes which of course means breaks down or wears away. For deposition, it sounds like deposite. Erosion makes a piece of material smaller. Deposition would probably make something bigger, like when the ocean DEPOSITES sand to a beach. Erosion can create canyons. I would like to make a mini model demonstrating erosion and deposition.
Erosion reminds me of just rocks in general like how they're formed and stuff like that. deposition is the depth. I want to brush up on erosion I kinda forgot about it.
I agree with kyle gorman that doesnt make much sense to me
when i think of erosion i think of water getting into a crack and frezzing and expanding over night then melting then starting the prosses all over again untill it makes a ditch. i dont know about depostion maby ill learn some stuff about it then know more about it
When I hear erosion I think of fire and explosion and lots of orange and red and also black. I think deposition is when something is all moved around. I don't know what the processes creates but it does not sound so good. In class when we learn about erosion and deposition I would like to see esamples of the two processes.
When I hear erosion I think of rocks getting smaller and turning into sand. I don't know about deposition but it is the natural prosess of laying down a deposit of something. I think the processes of theas two shape the the earth. I would like to do a bunch of labs to experence the way it all happens.
First of all, the last time I learned about erosion was in 3rd grade. I barely remember anything! But when I hear the word erosion, I think of land slides and avalanches. The defenition of deposition is the process inwhich matter changes from a solid to a gas without going through the liquid stage. Um... I'm guessing all of this made mountains and nature? When there are land slides, that creates hills/ mountains.
In class I'm not really sure what to do. I barely know anything! Or I do and just forget.
When I hear the word erosien I think of dirt and how it deepens from when you step on on it too much. Thats why we make trails, so you don't go any way. I learned about depositation, but I do not know off the top of my head. I will tell you the truth I do not want to learn about it because it seems boring.
~Charlie Freudemann~
Charlie:
Erosion is when something natural breaks down from weather. For example, the Grand Canyon. Which my Mom went to. She even told me so this weekend.
When people say erosion I think about my backyard how my dog runs the same path ever since she was a puppy and it ended up eroding and it's 6 to 12 inches steep.
I agree with Anthony Papathanas that we should do a bunch of expirements in class.
@ ryan bussard
Deposition (if my memory serves me correctly)is when bits of material are carried - mainly by water - to a larger peice of land.
oh, and be careful with your spelling. the teacher has too read it you know.
When I hear the word erosion I think of rocks wereing away, I think of the winding river in the Grand Canyon. Deposition makes me think of deposite. Im not sure what these 2 processes crete. I would like to do experiments while learning about both these.
@Marissa Ryan:
I always thought of the grand cayon being apart of Eroision too. How i remember deposition is like a deposite, I'm not sure if its right but thats how I remember the word.
Kylie Hayes
reply to:Xaiver Frisch
I forgot what doposation ment and I didn't think it would have ment to make meterial smaller and I like your projet/activity idea.
Ryan Bussard
I think of big giant rocks flying every were!Big booms every were!Like an experiment with the noise and the ( SMALL) Gaint rocks explode!
@ Marissa:
I agree. I think of the Grand Canyon. That or mountains and rivers and mostly just nature and rocks. I think it mostly has to do with the wind and rain/water.
I think what Hailey Hover said was very interesting about erosion. What she said was: erosion is when the wind wave and such erodor take away land. I agree with Sydney Kilgore we should do experements with soil and rocks or other naturial materals in class.
When I hear the word erosion I think about friction of matter against each other. It reminds me of the Grand Canyon and how air, water and rocks all contributed to how the Grand Canyon looks and it's shape. I think it is interesting that things rubbing against each other can wear away material and make something look different. I really don't know what deposition means but if I had to guess I would think it would mean depositing into a process. Maybe? I have no idea what the two processes create. I think we should do expirements in class like have three mounds of dirt in boxes, have water, more dirt in a cup (sepreatly) and then pour water on the first mound, see how it reacts. Then, drop more dirt onto the second mound and see how it reacts. After that, blow on the third mound and see how it reacted. Then record how three of themm looked before and after.
Posting @ Drew Vaive
I did not know that thats exactly how erosion works I did not know that wind, water, and rocks.
When i hear eroision i think of 4th of fith grade because that is when we laerned about. THe grand canyon was formed by erosion. Depositon, I haven't really heard this word before. But it has the word deposit in it so maybe it is talkking about the earth "deposititing" LIke in a bank. I dont know what this might create but like i sadi earlier erosion creater the grand canyon by the river eventualy eating away at the rock to form the grand canyon. I would like to learn about the amount of time it took for the grand canyon to be formed. I know it must be VERY long. Also do mudslides have anything to with erosion. What is a deposition. I dont know very much about it. I dont have a very clear image of it in my head. THis is a very interesting topic. I am excited to learn about it!
~Sara Dirr~
when i hear the word erosion, i think of a mountain caving in, or a huge avalanche.i truly dont know what deposition means, but i would say it is like adding stuff to the land to make it more fertile.no i dont know what either of those create, and i think it would be a good idea to do expiriments in class.
Commenting on Owen,
Owen, the word deposition means the accumulation or laying down of matter by a natural process, as the laying down of sedimaent in a river or the accumulation of mineral deposits in a bodily organ.
i agree with PAPATHANAS,ANTHONY
i would like to do some mor expirements because i like hands on learning
I agree with Brendan Mcwillams I also think of evaporation!
<3 Abbey <3
@ Anthony Papathanas
I also think of the Grand Canyon when i hear erosion, this is because in Elementary school we learned about it. I also dont know very much about "DEpostion" but i hope to learn more!
Commenting on Owen,
Owen, the word deposition means the accumulation or laying down of matter by a natural process, as the laying down of sedimaent in a river or the accumulation of mineral deposits in a bodily organ.
~Charlie Freudemann~
I agree with how you think earth is going throw another cycle Ted. And I think an exper in ent would be great along with a video.
Alex Richmond
i think of the ground eroding away. i don't even know the word.no i don't i would guess that they make rocks go away.and no
@ Emma Cliffe:
I agree with you. All I remember is learning about it in elementary school. I dont even remember which grade!!!! I think it might have been third grade, but I'm really not positive! I think we just did some expirements and we didn't really get that into it..... I think we should do lots of expirements with natural material!! It would be lots of fun!! Also, I agree that I think of land slides and avalanches when Erosion comes to mind.
when i hear the word "erosion" i think of a volcanoe erupting. i also do not know what "deposition" means but i think it means some object is in a spot or place where it doesnt belong
i agree with you zoey.it would be cool to do expirements on them! im not sure if that is what deposition means or not.
To Ted: Very good prodections. What do you mean by depth in your in. And what kind of project would you want to do
i heard about that too caleb hutson and the grand canyon is deeply huge
Core three did a good job. Keep up the good work
When I hear erosion, I think of rivers wearing away at a canyon. Deposition I think of as depositing something. I guess together it be known as depositing erosion? It doesn't sound that important, so I don't have any suggestions on what we could do in class. Even if I had a suggestion it wouldn't be used.
Amber, why do you think you think of volcanoes when you think of erosion?
the word erosion makes me think of something getting worn off or slower getting smaller.depositon means nothing to me because i know nothing about it.yes i do know what erosion process creates. i think we should do a project on erosion.
When ihere of Erosion I think of things wearing away. Then when I here deposistion I think of how deep of omething has been worn away. Erosion and Deposition might created something like a canyon because most of the stuff in the Grand Canyon has been eroded away. I think we should do something in class where we get a muddy rock or something that is on the rock and place them outside the class room door and see how much they have been eroded away.
-the breaking down of rocks.
-the breaking down of dead material.
-deposition creates fertile soil.
-I would like to know if anything but water and wind can erode rock and other hard material.
i think erosion is the procces of land being wore away from water or wind.its like the grand canyons, how it was carved. at first i thought it ment explosion. i know dumd it sounds.im not sure what deposition means it doesnt sound familier to me or anything any ideas.
i agree with anthony papathanas about how he thought of the grand canyon.
I agree with Madison Schnell because I made the same comment about things moving and sliding.
When I hear the word erosion I think of like a mud slide falling down the mountain which takes a huge chunk of something with it so it makes the mountain smaller in some portions. I haven't heard of depositioin a lot so that means I don't know that much about it. No. In class I would like to do experiments, projects, etc.
~Madison Dorrington~
The word erosion makes me think of how shapes slowly form from the winds or water pushing against the matiarial slowly taking bits and peaces away from the material or adding on. Deposition is a new term for me but I hope to learn more.
the one before was Nick Aichele.
hey anthony thats what i ws thinking erosion reminded me of the grand canyon because of the wind and water how cool
When I hear the word erosion I think of the ground becoming uneven or something being worn away over time. I don't know what deposition means. In class, it would be cool to look at a picture from a year ago and look at a picture of the same thing today and compare.

@ Papathanas
When I hear of erosion I also think of the Grand Canyon and how erosion caused the formation of it. Also I don't really know that much about deposition, but I would like to learn about it. I agree with you on experiments too. I like the hands on experiments.
I agree with Tony. The first thing that i think of when I hear erosion is the grand caynon and who there are diffrent layers with diffrent colors.
When i hear the word erosion i think of rock turning into sand or when water rushes by, it takes bits of the rocks inside of the water with it.
Deposition probly something that has to deal with the depth of something. I have never heard of it so don't ask me.
I think it would be fun to do something with erosion becuase i find it strangely interesting.

@ Katy Nortman
I also think that the Grand Canyon is a great example of erosion. It shows how much something can change over time.
Madasin@
Erosin is kind of like that but most of the time very slow because the cause of erosion is usanally by wind or water slowly eating away at the rock making it smaller over hundreds of years.
When i hear the word erosion i think of mud, rocks, and wind. I dont really know about deposition butm i think it has to do with the movement of objects. I know that erosion can cause carving in canyons. We should do an experiment with dirt.
I agree with Tony. The first thing that i think of when I hear erosion is the grand caynon and who there are diffrent layers with diffrent colors.

@Luke Brockman
I agree erosion fascinates me too.
When I hear the word erosion I think of the earth eroding away. I don't know about deposition. Grain and sand. Maybe we could see how long it takes for different sized rocks to erode.
@ Drew, I dont under satand deposition, I have never heard or have been tought what it is. Now I under stand. Thanks.

I have never heard of the word erosion and I don't know what it means.
Depostion reminds me of depositing something.
I would like to learn about it because I don't know what it is or what it's about.
rocks and mountains slowly breaking down. i dont know what desposition means. rich soil i guess. a replica of it happening like a model
when i think of erosion i think of noah and the ark or the grand canyon. I dont know to much about deposition but i thinks it about volcanoes. In class i think we should watch videos about erosion and deposition. Not bill nye
I think of caves. I do not know if that is what causes caves. I do not quite know or remember what deposition is. Erosion can create rocks. I would like to do experiments.
When I hear erosion I think of the Grand Canyon. I believe depostion is when winds move dirt and other things like that. Erosion made the Grand Canyon I really don't know what depostion creates. I would like to do experaments and read from the book.
1. grand Canyon
2. I don't know what it is
3.Erosion is the wereing away at rock
4.do aexperiment on a rock wereing away
Andrew Hudson
erosion makes me think of a volcano exploding.deposion i have no clue about what it meand or what it is.Nathan stenger
@Hailey Hoover, Are you sure that it is that or do you think that is,it sounds like it is but I really don't know. I guess I'll wait until we learn about it. Jennifer Somtrakool
i agrre with anthony i also think of canyons when they are made by the water and wind
I argee with Anthony that when I hear erosion I think of the grand canyon.
Andrew Hudson
When i hear erosion the first thing that pops into my mind is earth is going through another cycle.Im not that positive about deposition though.
kristan dalton
@ Ian Mushrush
Ian I would like to know how you get Noah and the ark out of erosion. Erosion is when weather weres away at a surface. Noah and the ark is a relgion storie and has nothing to do with science.
whenever i hear the word erosion i think of ice burgs and the grand canyon. Deposition to me means the opposite of erosion. Nothing came to my mind when you asked if we can learn anything in class.
austin tilford.
When I hear the word erosion I think of mud slides and rocks tumbling down the side of a mountain. When I hear the word deposition I think of depth, like the depth of water. I know that these two processes can create swamps or wetlands. I would like to know if they have anything in common about the wearing away of substances.
-Kaleigh McCarthy
Madison Schnell the term rotted away is good. But there are erosions like wind water and genetic.
when i hear erosion i think of hard solid materials such as rock and metal and turns to dust after a long period of time like the grand cayon from erodeing away.i dont know deposition i think rocks that get eroded form to dust and form desaerts.yea what happens when rock turns to dust
austin papner
whenever i hear the word erosion i think of ice burgs and the grand canyon. Deposition to me means the opposite of erosion. Nothing came to my mind when you asked if we can learn anything in class.
austin tilford.
i agree with kaleigh i think deposion it something like landslides
austin papner
anthony papathanas,
i agree with anthony now that i think of it when i hear the word erosion i do under staand why you think f the grand canyon. my mom was about to fall of the grand canyon and thats how my parents met because my dad saved my moms life.
kristan dalton

I agree with you when you say that the first thing that pops into your mind is that the Earth is going through another cycle because that is basiclly what is happeneing. When it rains the land changes. The word depoosition also confused me. Since we have not learned about it yet I think of the first thing that comes to mind.
-Kaleigh McCarthy
hey tony i thought the same thing when i read the artical in the other blogs.Nathan stenger
I agree with Noah Hartman, rocks and mountains slowly break down.
i think he is right i mean it should pop up in ur mind thats how the canyons are made by erosion of wind and water
AUSTIN TILFORD
when i hear the word erosion i think of the grand canyon because thats how it was formed.and deposition means erosion kind of and i know that erosion means like breaking down of things like moutians into hills we should make our own hills and explain how it was formed into a hill
i agree with zoey because also when i think or hear erosion i think of a avalanch also
