If it were at Yellowstone like the video we watched suggests many people would be trapped without food and water, people wouldn't be able to exit the country, many near Yellowstone would be killed, many would be injured, stores would close, and everything would be out of control. I thought the video was very interesting, but it was also scary because if something like this were to happen I don't think we'd be as prepared as we should be.

A VIE is the size of avolcano and a VIE 8 is a super volcano. Mt st helens was a super volcano and so was MT Vusuvius. Plat tectinics are what make a volcano erupt. The us will be covered in ash and many people will die.

A magma caldera is under Yellowstone. It is the largest in the world. A VIE 8 is a super eruption, which is extemely rare. Tectonic plates cause earthquakes which can cause an eruption. Just one small eruption in Yellowstone that originates from the caldera could cause a super eruption. If the U.S. was not evacuated, everyone in it would die. There would be a huge ash cloud that could cover the Earth, and possibly plunge it into an ice age.

There is one near the Red Sea and in Africa somewhere. My guess is that it would take THOUSANDS of years to clean up all the ash, many people evacuated... It's so hard to even think about that to actually happen to us. Wouldn't you be frightened by the thought?

I agree with rachel that if a super eruption were to accure many people would evacuate the country and the the would stop sending flights because of ash clouds.

It lays on top one of the worlds largest active volcano. Yellowstone is not the only super volcano. It is a volcano danger level the worst is 8. Plate tectonics because the plates of the crust pushing against each other to make a cone volcano. We would have to start all over build all the buildings we would have to find animals since they would be dead.

If there were a super eruption I don't think we would handle it well, I think some would painc and eventually die from just paicking alone but most could be doomed.

The possabilates of a VIE 8 [super volcaino] are roughly 1 to a 1,000,000,000. The effect if it could erupt would be masseve it could possably cover the world. Ash would would cover most of the U.S.A it wou.d be deadly.

Water would mostly be fine because it could be easieally be cleand so people could drink it although trouble in the past with water it would be fine with are technolagy today. Fleeing the country would be good but you would never be completly away from the ash.

A VIE8 means a super eruption that means if there was to be an eruption then it might say VIE8 to say super super eruption.i think there are more volcanoes than just yellow stone. there is one hawaii. what this has to do with plate tectonics is there are plates underground in the magma chamber and which i think they hit each other and they might make an explotion.this would effect the US badly if there was an eruption the would be on CODE RED!!!!! but i hope there wont be an eruption.

It's related to plate tectonics because plate tectonics are what make volcanoes erupt because the pieces of the crust rise up and the bottom of the volcano is connected to the mantle and it erupts.
Under Yellowstone is a large magma chamber 5 miles under the ground. Yellowstone is not the only super volcano. A VIE 8 is a supervolcanic eruption. Usually volcanoes are located near or on the plate tectonic lines because that is where the plates have a gap between them. Under the plates is magma and in those gaps makes volcanoes and then the erupt with too much pressure underground. If there was a super eruption, I think the US would be effected by all the magma coming out. Also all of the ashes would cover areas and trap or kill people in homes or outside. In othere words, a super eruption would be a devastating thing.

The largest magma chamber in the world is under Yellowstone, and it is the only active valcano to have the name of VIE 8 or super volcano. Even the smallest tremor, earthquake, another volcano, anything that causes shifts in the crust could open the magma chamber and cause a super eruption. Most of the U.S. would be covered in ash or incinerated, but the world would be forced into another ice age but would recover.
I agree with Jenn if the wind went the other way we would be a lot safer, but if it did go the way it did in the movie and was not as thick, the eruption could be a lot more spread out and more deadly.
