Ride along with Storm Chasers

Remember the city you chose to collect data about?  Well check on the weather map and see how it is faring.  Is it in line for a storm.  See where the real storm chasers are going.  How would you like to be with them?  Go to the link below and check out where the storms are.  Click on Video vortex and see real footage of a storm.  Comment about your city and what it would be like to chase storms.  Search on Twister Data for your chosen city and see how often tornadoes occur.

i chose los angeles california and right now there is no storms there but there is a very small cloud around it now im not sure if it is a storm or not. i would not like to be with them it would be freaky to be that close to a tornado. my city isnt seeing any storms right now but they are having some rain . tornados can effect citys in california but not the ones by the ocean.

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma- There is no storm in the city, but there is a national weather center in the area.
Rapid City, South Dakota- There is no storm at all near the area.
We would be scared to be with them because we dont want to die. We would not like to go on a storm chase. In our cities, it would not be a good area to storm chase because the large storm in the US now is not in our cities' range.

It would be really fun to be in a storm because your heart would be pounding and adrenilan would be rushing through your blood.

Honolulu Hawaii is not in for a storm. texas, florida and michigan are in for a storm. i would like to be with them to see how storms behave and what its like being in the middle of it. to be a storm chaser i think you have to be brave enough to get out and get a better picture of the turnado. i also think you have to have a need for storms.

George McFarren said...

We agree with Madison and Megan because it would be scary to be near a tornado.

I chose Dallas, Texas. Right now they are having a general thunderstorm, with heavy rain. There is a line of storms above heading north east through arkansas to ohio and past. The storm chasers are right now in oklahamo and Indiana. I would not mind to be with them since we are just having storms and not any tornados or anything, well not yet.

Madison I agree with you when you say it would be scary, but today i do not think it would since there are no tornados.

I chose Oklahoma City, and they have no bad weather at all. Right now through the video a couple miles away, it is sunny and clear skies. All of the storms are past Oklahoma, so no, it is not in the line for bad weather. The storm chaser that is near a storm is in the middle of Indiana right now, near Indianapolis. There is no tornadoes that I could see, and it is mostly just rain and dark clouds. I would hate being with them because I don't like storms, much less riding around in a car trying to find tornadoes. My city has a lot of bad weather so, storm chasers probably go near or at Oklahoma city a lot. I could not find how to make it just for my city, but in Oklahoma, there have been 3188 tornadoes from 1950-2009.

But over all i think being a storm chaser has its addvatiges and it disandvantiges. And new york has clear weather at the ,moment there is no sign of bad weather heading there way

my city is very lucky and has no risk of a storm. it would be exciting but terrifiying to be a storm chaser.

3.)They don`t always make any progress. 4.) It is dangerous and
5.)It is a very stressfull job. So i would not want to be a storm chaser. But if your a famaous storm chaser like Reed Timer you`d make more money. I wouldn`t care to much about the dangers but you still would be far away from your families and you`d be stressed out alot. Example you can end up paying $13,700 on storm chasing and you only make 5,200$ one year it is nearly imposible to make a living on strom chasing.

In cincinati tornados don't happen often because we don't have the right weather needed to create a tornado. If a tornado hits cincinati it hits hard.

I agree with Drew it would be a little freaky, but isn't that part of the fun. Seeing a hugge tornado comeing twords you would be scarry but it would be the coolist thing you have ever seen. Just think for a minute. If you took the scarry out of a tornado there wouldn't be anything left to look at but clouds.

Right now in Madison, Wi there is nothing going on. I would LOVE to go with the the storm chasers on a chase. I think my city would be a fairly well city to vhase storms. Madison, Wi doesn't get alot of storms all the time.

Drew V.
Why did you choose Los Angeles? I would think that there wouldn't be alot of storms in Los Angeles.

I chose Cincinnati, Ohio. Cincinnati isn't at much of a risk. The storm chasers are in Oklahoma. I would be a little scared to be a Storm Chaser but I would like to meet one someday.

I chose Pago Pago American Samoa, because I used to live there. Luckly ther aren't many storms around there right now in pago Pago. I am pretty sure in American samoa tornados are rare, but even though it wasn't a tornado in 2009 there was a tsnami in Pag Pago. I personally would be scared if I was with the storm chasers. I would like to have a nice spring brake, not being sucked up in a tornado with storm chasers. I'm sure it is an amazing job, but I'd be scared out of my wits to do it. Luckly for Samoans tornadoes do not occur there that often. I think chasing storms would be cool but very scary at the same time.

My city was Paris, TX. At the moment on the edge of Tornadoe alley, there is just clear skies, there is rotation to the NW but nothing. Honestly what is would be like to chase storms would be scary, cool, and exciting at the same time. Around my city, it happens like about every 1-5 months at a time, some even happen TWICE a month.

I agrere with Drew .
It would be very scary to be close to a tornado .

I agree George, it would be cool to be a storm chaser, is there any rotation or supercells?

I choose Atlanta, Georgia.
Yes, today and tomorrow are souposed to both have thunder storms, then it will go back to clear/partly cloudy skys. I think that it would be kind of scary to go with them. Especially knowing you could die any moment when your chasing the storm. But it would also be a intresting job to have.

@Frisch Xavier, I aggre with you. Having the job would be cool but it could also be dangorous. I would love to see a tornadoe first-hand! But at the momennt I would probably be scared to death.

i chose los angeles california and right now there is no storms there but there is a very small cloud around it now im not sure if it is a storm or not. i would not like to be with them it would be freaky to be that close to a tornado. my city isnt seeing any storms right now but they are having some rain . tornados can effect citys in california but not the ones by the ocean.

I chose Abbyville, Kansas and right now it's cloudy with a slight change of isolated showers. I would't like to live over there because Kasas has a very high tendancy of big tornados. Tornados are probably the number one cause/dsaster in Kansas.

Abby Bacher said...

I agree with you, Drew. I'm also not 100% sure that storms will show up in Abbyville, Kansas. I think it'd be freaky, too.

i chose los angelos for the city data. there are no current storms in los angelos. i wouldnt like to go there with them because there's no "action." los angelos gets tornados somewhat frequently....

witchata, kansas: it is a thunder storm. i would think being able to drive into the storm would be awesome and seeing a tornadoe would diffently be a treat. i would also be scraed though because you can die but worth the amazing footage of a tornadoe
