fun excitment- You can have a lot of fun and excitment even though it is very dangerous. Sometimes guides even take people on tours.
Profit-some storm chasers earn some money from the photographs or video clips they capture on the job.
research-Most storm chasers collect weather data when they get close to a tornado.

They are many reasons to become a storm chaser. One reason is for fun and excitment.Another reason is for research and one last reason is for profit. By profit I mean some storm chasers get great video/photographs and then sell them to somebody and get money.

It takes courage to storm chase, because tornados and hurricanes are the most dangerous storms. Some good reasons to be a storm chaser is mainly for scientific research, but also people make a living off of selling photos of storms. Storm chasers have to wait 8-12 hours driving looking and researching storms to follow, and sometimes they dont get to see one because of a bad forecast and there could be multiple storms and they pick the wrong one.

Madison Schnell said...

@ Sydney, I agree with you that storm chasing seems very exciting and could be very fun, but also dangerous. To Storm chase, you would have to risk a lot becuase you wont know what might happen with a tonado or hurricane.

Madison Schnell said...

@Sydney: I think trhey have to use heavy gear and armoured cars to protect themselves from high winds and debris.

Fun and excitement - It's probably a bad idea to go out and chase storms just for kicks, but these are definitely driving factors for many chasers.
Profit - There are some people who make a living selling footage and images they capture of storms.
Research - Most storm chasers collect weather data when they get close to a tornado. They may have other motivations, but at the heart of every storm chaser there is a curiosity about these inspiring storms.

Storm chasers are scientists who have all this equiptment for studing tornados.Theyn go out to observe and capture all different types of tonados. Some people even want to go on tours to really see the true beauty of a tornado, and what damage it can do to places that get too close. The bad part of being a storm chaser is that when there isn't a storm in radar, they all just have to sit and wait for the next one they collect on their equiptment. Storm chasers chase and study hurricanes and tornadoes. A lot of the time they never get to see storms but when they do, they put their lives at risk for reasearch and entertainment. They drive along the storms to get video for their reasearch but there is a lot of thinks that could happen to them. They could get rained on or hailed on or even get sucked up into the tornado.

Some people become storm chasers for the fun, research or to get money by selling photos or video of the tornado. Its very dangerous and if your not careful, you could die.

@Sara Dirr
If you could be a storm chaser, would you be one? If you would be one would you put your live at risk for research or selling photos? Do you think if someone got stuck in a tornado, that they could get out alive?

Scientific information and photography. More than twelve hours. No they do not always get to see a storm.

Storm chasers chase tornados and go where there is a good place for a tornado to approch. this would not be a good job for me because they scare me.

I agree with all the gear but you are missing to big things. The armored car TIV2 and the doppler radar on wheels.

kilgore, sydney

you are right because they are for mainly for scienctific research on weather.

I agree with sydney kilgore that if the weather forecast is wrong the timing can be way off and screw the whole mission up.

Some good reason to observe tornadoes is to see maybe how much damage they can do in a minimum of time. Or maybe if you live somewhere in another state where they don't have tornadoes you may want to seee what they look like. storm chasers have to wait about 12hr. till a tornado comes. Thety have to get prepared and everything they have to confident and ready to face there hardest challenge tornadoes. Some days there might be a tornado somae days may not be one. but they still have to do work on the last tornado

@ ciarra. they look at there doppler or there radar.

Storm chasers record tornados and hurricans. They usually do it for Scientific Research. They don't always get to see a storm, sometimes they miss them. Even though it's very dangerous to be a Storm Chaser. it's also very exciting. You can earn money from it too by getting research and weather data from tornados.

kelly- I thought they spent more hours on getting ready and everything. but I don't think Im ready to face a tornado. it sounds a little scary. I also agree with you that they are pros. they spend months training and being prepared. and they do risk there lives all on science

Some reasons to be a storm chaser are to gather imformation about storms like tornados and hurricanaes. Other imformation like how fast the wind speed is and what damage it can do are recorded on weather instruments. Storm chasers can be driveing around for 12 hours and still not see a tornado or ever a slite storm. Storm chasers do not allways get to see a storm, but sometimes they see a storm forming then it just vanishes and nothing happend not even a funnel or anything. It mite be frustrating but it's life.

I agree with Sydney storm chasing can be exciting and dangerous at the same time, but It's not all danger and fun they some series equipment to measure the wind speed and all the other things that are important to studdy.

Storm Chasers observe and record tornados and other storms that they chase. It is very dangerous for being a storm chaser.

A good reason to be a storm chaser is so you can learn about science. storm chasing is frustratin because you might not always get a storm

Storm chaser have wait depending on the tornadoe its hard to get so close to one because how dandrouse it isif they at the wrong place at the wrong time there in trouble. i agree with drew yo do get a adrenalinrush by being a storm chaser,.

They observe, report, and record storms. Mainly they do this for scientific resach, others do it for their love for storms. Not always do they get to see a tornado or other storm, some wait months for the perfect storm. The basics would be a video recording camera or a high speed camera, scientific equiptment to record measures such as a spedometer. Why be a storm chaser? It is very exciting, you can earn money, can help other people evacuate just in time for a tornado to hit, benefits scientific research, and you can earn some cash along the way.

Storm Chasers observe tornados and hurricanes. One good reason to chase these deadly storms are for scientific research. But the storm chasers do not always get to expirence tornados because sometimes the storm cant produce a tornado or chase the wrong storm.

They are many reasons to become a storm chaser. a reason is for fun and excitment.Another reason is for research and one last reason is for money. you would get money from pictures.

storm chaser can tell when and where there are going to be storms and tornadoes, this is good for us because they increase our warning time which helps us get to saftey.

Granger,Hannah said...

some good reasons for being a storm chaser is that you only have to work during the storm weather. they usualy have to wait a week to find a good storm to chase. no they dont allways see a storm

Buelterman,Abbey said...

I agree with Ryan because the storm chasers are very in dangor and they are vilent

Storm chasers do not always find storms. They make there profit from getting really close to the storm and collect data. It is fun to be a storm chaser if you like storms but it is still dangerous.

I agree with Drew there are some good reasons to be a storm chaser and it would be an addreneline rush and exciting.

good reasons for being a storm chaser is that you only have to work during the storm weather. the storms arent very long mostly but dangerouse so its basicly a win win.
