On Friday, we watched a number of videos describing Jay Z's work in his project Water for Life. What did you learn when watching those videos? How do you feel about this project? What did you think about the video?

I learned many people in the world a lot of places do not have tap water they have to walk super far just to get one bucket. I think the project is very nice and more people around the world should start donating towards it. I think the video gace a good explanation of what is actually happeneing in life today.

I learned that they are much less fortunate than we are, here in the united states, and that they dont have that many good living resources around them. I felt really sad watching these videos because they have to work just to get water meaning that theyb have to walkj a long time and carry a big bucket on their heads the weigh alot. I thought that the video was really neat because it just shows how lucky we have it hear and it made me want to help them out in any wa I could.
in the video i learned how much fresh water we really have and how little water the african children and people really get. what i feel about this project is that i think it is a good project to do because of all the people that dont have water but i also feel kindove sad becasue of how america gets water and sometimes we just waste it when other people are out there dehydrated. what i thought about the video was that it was good and it was truthful.
I learned that not everyone lives like us American's do; being able to have fresh and clean water everyday to drink and to bathe with. I think Jay-Z did a really good thing to make a project like this to help the less fortunate. I feel that it is a very good thing to do for others, and it shows full respect to evryone else in the world. I think the video is really inspiring, because it shows how different life is in poorer countries, and how not having good water can affect your lifestyle.
When i read about this i learned about how many people did not have water that was clean or sanitized. I think it is sad that these people do not have clean water because we have so much and we do not even realize it. It also upsets me to hear that they become very ill. I am happy to hear that people are stepping into help and i hope they will soon have some way to get to drink sanitized water.
I lerned that people in africa have a very scarse amout of water.I think that jay z is doing alot by donating money to the people that need it to get water.
I learned that there are many area where water is difficult to get to and also dangerous do to water being contaminated. I hope it will be a successful project.
i think what jay z did was cool because he knows what it feels like for other people who dont have water. i think its crazy the about 2 million kids die from not having clean water. i think that know matter how poor you are or were you live you should have clean water that is easy to get

Over 1 billion do not have a clean water supply. Only 3% of the water in the world is freshwater, but about 1% of the water is drinkable. I believe that giving growing towns and countries clean water supplies will help them grow and survive. Water is a basic need for everyone, so why does not every one have clean water? The video I think was a good way to spread the word about the lack of clean water in growing countries. But yet why doesn't everyone have CLEAN water? I belive the govornments don't truly care if small towns like the ones in the video don't have clean water, mainly the govornments focus on militia and the capitols needs. Either the govornment needs more money OR change their focus. What they gave the people is NOT enough.
Madison i agree with you. Having fresh and clean water everyday is very important. To not only drink but bathe. I believe Jay-Z did a great thing to make a project like this to help these people.
I learned from the videos that water is very limited in certain countries all around the world. I also learned that this water problem is not being taken as serious as other problems like the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
I feel suprised and upset about the water problem around the world.Suprised because many people have to walk for miles just to get a gallon of water but they have to do that everyday. Upset because I think there is enough water for everybody but we dump our trash into it and we dont take care of it which causes the water to become unable for us to drink.
I thought that the videos were helpful in noticing how big the water situation has grown. Also I thought that the videos were saying we need more people to help.

I think that it sad that some people around the world do not have drinking water and that they have to walk very far to go get some.I feel that kids adults should have water.I also learn that there water is not always clean and that when our moms or dads ask us to take out the trash and we complain its nothing compared to what they have to deal with.All around people getting sick and that there is only a couple of doctors around to help them. They have open drainage pipes, as well as there homes can get very hot and there's barley any shelter and most live in poverty. I feel that this project to help them is good because this way they have someone to depend on and with money earn they will have enough drinking water and be clean as well as having good doctors there with them to help stop these sicknesses.
I learned that people need help and where lucky for what we have and others need to walk a long time to get water.

i think that its very sad how people in those places dont have water like we do. water is something that is so easy to get here that youd think its like that everywhere. i mean, if i need water i just go down to the sink and get some. but its not that simple there. they have to walk long distances just to get a basic need like water.
i think this project is a wonderful cause. its great that jay Z is using his fame and fortune to help these people. hes done so much for them already and see how its helped them. just imagine if he did even more. i think that, with all the work that he's doing, he could soon bring water to everyone that needs it. then it will be as simple for them as it it for us.
the video was very depressing to see what thses people go through each day. its even worse for the girl who has to get up early each morning to get water for her family. and with as many people she had in her family that 1-2 buckets of water is not much. then, after the long rough journey she made, just to get the water, she has to walk through toxic, chemical areas to get to school. Although, i do find it funny that just about everyone there has a working camera phone but not easy availablity to water.
but overall, i think that Jay Z is doing a wonderful thing to help all of these people, and i hope that it all works out in the end.
I learned that I am a really lucky girl. For clean water they have to walk up and down hills and it's a really long way to it. Their clean water is from the srteam they walk to everyday while we just go to the store and buy water. The little girls younger and older then me all walk to the same stream everyday to provide water for her family. Their houses are like the size of my room and they live with 4 or more family members. To take a shower they go outside when no one is around when I just walk to my bathroom to take one. If I every had to live like that i don't know what I would do. I envy those girls because they work hard no matter what situation they are in. In this video I learned how important clean water is but we don't appreciate it.
I learned that there are many parts of the world that do not have clean water to drink, or bathe with. Children have to fetch water for there homes and schools, and they are consitered lucky to have a flushable toilet. I think that it is really good the Jay-z is taking his time to do all of this for children and there families. I like how he shows his soft side and is really nice and helpful to these people who are in need.
I learned that it would suck to live there because you dont have clean fresh water running into your house. I mean some people have to walk 3 miles just to get 1 bucket of water then have to walk up a steep and hily terrain. The project I thought was pretty cool because it is informing people of how bad the situation is for other people besides us. The videos were ok i mean Jay-z didnt really help he went there got a bucket of water and brought up the hill thank you Jay-Z thank you for taking a bbucket of water up a hill. But what he did is inform people about the sitation so that was kinda helpful.
I learned how the smallest help could make a huge difference for those in need. I feel that this project is very important and that everyone should help. I thought that this video was very informational about how hard it was for these people to just get the basic neccessities.
I think it was good that Jay-Z did this. If only everyone else could then that would make this world a better place. I think it was cool how he actually got to experience that. I want to help but not by just donating moneyand being done with it but I want to know and see how the money I donate will affect their lives.

I had no idea that people lived like that. I am very thankful for where I live and where I go to school. I think Jay-Z did a really good thing by helping them. I think we should help them. I don't think that you should do it because you feel bad for them but to do it because you want to. I think the video was a relly good way to express what th world is going through.
i learned that there are people that dont have instant access to water. i thought the project was creative and wish that they did that all over where people dont have access to water. i thought that the video was good, but i dont think the people are living well. people are picking up tons of germs and dying from things like diarya
It was a great video. I learned many things and that we should all be gratefull that we have clean water and no open surrers. Jay-Z was the biggest help they got in that town, and more actors, singers and other should help out and give some of there money up to help those kids.
I learned how important water is to the poeple in Africa and other parts of the world. The thing that is the worst to me is having to make trips in school to go get 2 bukets of water and that there is sewage that is in the streets and the children play in and around it all the time. I think that this is a great project because they need water and better living conditions or eventually everybody will be sick. I think that the video gave a clear image on what is happening in those contries.
I learned that you can get water in anyway shape or form. I feel its a great way to teach kids that you can make a diffrence and it would help kids in africa and it would make things easier to get water and have fun like the play pumb. I thought that if you could get water with a play pumb you could get water in many diffrent ways like a well or a big hole to to collect water while its raining. When its dirty water you could put chemicals in it or boil it. Not having to travle to get water means that they could learn more and have a better edacation. Curently more than 1 billion people donot have acsees to clean water. And 2.6 billion do not have basic sanitation facilities.

I agree with you Alex but not just famous people, but Presidents, gov't officials, THEIR GOVN'T OFFICIALS, and other UN representatives. If we could bet at least one million people to care and donate to this, hundreds of water pumps could be built and used in poor countries.

I learned that a great amount of people have little water available to drink. I think that Jay-Z is doing a good thing. The video explained what is happening pretty well in my opinion. It makes me happy to see so many people in need getting help. At the same time,though, it makes me feel bad seeing so many people with poor living conditions. I may not like Jay-Z's music, but I like what he's doing for those people who are in need.

I learned that water isn't something thats abundant everywhere. I figured everyone had water, that it wasnt a big deal because its something that we can easily find, but i was wrong. I think the Water For Life project will make a huge impact on their lives and he's realy making a big difference. People won't get sick and die from unclean water, and kids won't have to walk a few miles just to get water to drink and bathe in. The video made me think about how lucky we are, i had no idea water was scarce in other places because we can get water in our homes and anywhere we go.
What I learned was that we have it very easy here in America. Both of the girls had to walk a long way just to get one bucket of water. Most people in Africa don't have running water, and if they did, it would cost them alot of money. I thought the project was awesome. More people around the world should also start a program like this. The video gave a very good explanation of how Africa is struggling without running water, and gives the reality of it all.
i didnt that the conditions that people could ive in, what they have to go through shouldn't even excist in our world just because of unclean water. I think that Jay-Z is doing something wonderful for them and we should to. :) I felt like crying because once I heard that nearly 2 million CHILDREN die each YEAR from flat out unclean living conditions is hard for them, how would you feel from changing from what we have here in the U.S. to their conditions? I couldnt even imagine making that change.
I learned that we dont have it hard really at all,many kids would think our lives were perfect. They dont have good resources just to get water they have to walk far and some of the trails they take to get water are not safe. I think it was really sad to sit there and watch kids have to walk far just to get water and its not even clean water. The sewer that was by there homes made me sad too ,they dont even have a clean area to run and play. I think Jay-Z did a great job helping out all of those people I think other people should help out to by donating money.

I learned a large number of things about the way of life for many Africans. I learned how they have to travel far to just get water. tO think we just walk a few feet to the sink for water and they have to walk a few miles to get water is very sad and unfortunate. I also learned that they have to shower out in the public. I absolutely think this project is definately worth the effort. I thought the video was nice, but sad as well because life is very hard fo these people. I would be open to donating for this cause, it is definately worth the money to help. I support them.

I learned with just alittle of 10-15 dollars it can make a change. I also learned that there are people that have less money than us in the united states. I like what Jay'Z is doing for them, its verey consitered on what he is doing. i would of never thought that it would of been him that would build a water tower for them. i likedd this video alot, i wish to go there to help out. but it would cost alot to get there and back. i would like it to get alot better there.

I think this project will help out so much, I feel terrible for the kids living in those conditions. & I thought MY house was bad. The video taught me a lot, I never knew Jay-Z that well and I never would expected him or any famous person to go there, I think it's an awesome cause.

Ilearned that people don't have as much as we do here in the united states. Many people all over the world are dieing because they do not have the right supplies that we have right in our house. The most important thing an earth is water and people all over the earth can't even get fresh water, and that doesn't mean it's clean water. I feel that what Jay Z is doing is very good because someone is actully doing something to help with the worlds problems. The video show what people live in and it is amazing that they are able to survive in such conditions.

In the video I learned that in the world there are alot less foruante people in the world. They have to walk miles just to get water and all we have to do in america is turn on a sink or foucet and water starts to come out. I think that this project will help alot and when they went to that water turning thing that was one of the thing that Jay Z's help pay for they got one drink of clean fresh water and there faces were lite up like they just won $50,000 it was amazing. Some things that I learned in this video was to be much more happy of what we get in life because over where Jay Z was they barley have they chance to get clean water.
I learned that some people have it really hard everyday and that people had to walk like a few miles just to get there water and they had to carry a very heavy bucket of water back and Jay-Z did a very nice thing of giving them fountains of CLEAN water all the water they were getting before was dirty and they would have to drop in a clorine tablet to make sure the water is clean enough for them to drink it. And what i thought about this video was that this video was a very information at that intresting to I loved watching us and it made me wanna help all those poor people.

I learned that they do not have water avalible like we do. They have to work to get their water. THey have to hike up hills and cross open sewage areas. They are also much less fortunate. We are so used to have water at high availibility and I bet if they came here they would think they were living the life of luxury. I feel really bad watching what they have to go through. Watching the video makes me want to donate all of my money to them. I feel that this project is great. I think it's cool how much those people care for the people in Africa. I really hope the people in Africa get the resources they need. I think the video was really neat. It was cool to see the real way they live and to get to know one of the people that is suffering. You heart begins to ache for them, and all you want to do is help.

The world population is so much bigger than the water supply. That is why those families and villages have no water. And what little water they do have they have to walk long distances with heavy buckets to get. Almost 2 million die each year due to unsafe drinking water. I'm glad Jay Z was nice enough to provide the water pumps for that village. It was interesting to see how excited the kids and people of that village got excited when they got the water pump and even indoor plumbing.

actually, giving the government MORE money is a bad idea since they have wasted so much of it already. the dollars worth is now reduced by about 43 cents. almost half of each dollar we spend is borrowed. and besides it was jay-z who donated the water tower or whatever it was called. i do agree with you on some points though, like the fact that everyone should have clean water as their everyday lives.

I learned that there is a progrm that can help people who don't have clean water to use for drinkig or for other needs. I feel like it's a good way to help people and that anyone can just donate money to help this cause. i think that the vedio gave me and most people in the class a better idea of how bad it is i parts of the world compared to us.

I really didn't realize that that many people around the world are struggling just to get wanter to there family people travel hours and hours just to get small buckets of water from a creek and half the water is dirty water thats not drinkable.And just a small donation can make a really but difference to these people
When i watched this video it amazed me at how many people had been suffering with something so simple and daily used in our lives. I couldnt belive how much time she wasted and effort she used for such little amount of water. In the morning she got up about the same time i do to go get water, comeback, go again, and comeback again all for two buckets of water. I was also surprised that the schools didnt have good bathrooms and that there was no rushing water i any of the homes.
I thought that this project was very helpful to these people. The water at the school was a very clever, smart and fun way to get water. I thought that this video helped explain what other preople go through and that there are peole suffering over something that we just let spill down the sink and take advantage of.
What I learned from this video was that many children are suffering to get water from far far away that is not even clean! I felt that I was soooo so so fortunate that I can go up out of class walk just down the hallway to get a drink. Everyone should have and do the same. What I thought of the video was how nice Jay Z to make a donation to make fresh clean water availible to them.

alot of people live and very pour countries and it made me feel horriable because i know i live in a country that has alot of water and just to thonk that there are kids that could miss several days of school and have to travel a mile or more just to get water is very sad and that they could get very sick from this water is also sad. i think that jay z's project is an awesome and thoughtful project and they must be very greatful for a guy with this kind of money that can spend it on himself to be spending them. the video was awesome and informational too. i am happy he made theis so that everyone could know about the water problums and mabey some could help with it too.

I knew that places like that didnt have the cleanest of water but I never really thought of it as that bad. I think it was awesome that Jay Z went and visited them. That was so nice. From what i understood, i dont think Jay Z thought it was that bad either. I also didnt know and never really thought about how many people the dirty water and the bad environment can kill so many people. It is also hard to believe that these bad things are happening on this earth today! it is really sad! I thought the video was good. I really liked what Jay Z did for all of those kids. Another thing that I brought to mind was when i saw only one cell phone. I wonder if kids there knew how much cell phones can actually do these days. I know how many kids in the U.S. use them for texting and a ton of other things and just seeing how hard their life is with doing all the work just to get somewhat clean water makes our lives here today look so easy.

When I saw how those kids and how they were living, and how im living I felt horrible. It really does make you appreciate what you have, im glad that Jz donated to the water for life foundation. I think that it is a very good cause, im glad that he is actually doing something than just what other people might do. Like feel sorry for them and have the money and the time to help but doesnt. This just shows how commited Jz is with these kids and it really is admiring.

What I learned from the video was that there are a lot of people and kids who have to work over and beyond just to get water to drink, cook,bathe and it isn't even clean water. Also that only 1% of 70% of water is accutally drinkable. I feel that this project is amazing. I would do anything to help these people. This program is very caring and generous. The video was eye opening to me I didn't think that this many people were this unfortunate. It made me realize that what I have is so precious because alot of people don't have anywhere near what I have.

I feel sorry for those kids who live in poverty. It is so hard for them just to get to school. They have to walk in sewege they dont have any good bathrooms and they have to walk so far just for water. We get water by turning the faucet on we have great bathrooms and we just have to get on a bus to get to school. I just wish it was cheapper to give them a better life. I wish there was no such thing as poverty that all are nations could be free peacfull and rich

I think we are lucky to have nice clean water and have it in out kitchen and not walking somewhere far away to get it. The video that we wathched was very sad knowing that these little kids are working so hard for water and to kepp there lifes going and the family and friends. We should collect money so we could get them a well right by there houses not like 2 hours away.

I learned that some people have to walk miles to get fresh water thats not even clean. I feel like it is the right thing to do and that we should all donate money to people like that. I thought the videos were cool because it showed what he was really doing on that tour.
I learned from both the video and reading that many pepole dont have acsses to clean water and basic sanatation needs. Also when they need water they need to walk a very far distance. I feel very fortunite now, after watching the video It opened my eyes to how fortunite we are in the US. I personaly think "Water for Life" is a great project and i hope one day pepole all over the world will have better acsses to water. The video we watched Friday I thought gave a great explanation on what is going on in the world.
I learned that only 3% of the earth water is fresh and that only 1% is drinkable.Those people who have only about 40 liters of water a day for a family of 5 or more , that might sound good but the average person uses 20 liters a day.I think what Jay-Z is doing because this can change the world.

i learned that not everyone has a fauchet to walk over to with a cup and get a drink they have to travel just to find water i like what jz is doing because it will save more lifes and he will be a really good role modle to younger kids.i think the video really gave me a reallity check and made me think everytime im drinking water at practice like wow some kids dont even get a drink.NATHAN STENGER

Sean i agree that the government should do more to help growing countries. But I think they do care about them but the governments just dont have the money.
It was amazing to watch that kids my age and even younger have to walk miles before school just to get clean water for the day. Something as simple as turning a handle to get clean water is the difference between dying and living for them. I think the project is a great idea and a step closer to preventing many deaths in the future. The video was sad and upsetting to watch, but also helped modivate me and my classmates to help the many people like Jay Z to help these children and their families.

I agree how it made me stop and think that normally, going over to the sink to get a glass of water is nothing; no big deal. When really kids have to walk many miles to reach water for them and their families. Jay Z is definitely some one that I can look up to because of how he but forth the effort to help save those children that are dying everyday because of filthy water. I hope to see him doing more things like that and other people stepping up to help as well.

I think Jay-Z is doing a good thing by helping kids who could die by the unsafe water in that country he was in. Nearly 2 MILLION KIDS die each year due to unsafe water. Jay-Z donated money so that there can be a pump to get clean water to the kids.
It makes me so sad to see people who don't have clean water to drink. I knew there was a shortage of water in other parts of the world, but I didn't know it was this servere. Jay Z has a good heart for starting this project. I'm very glad that people can help those who don't have clean water for drinking or basic needs.
I learded that people are so despreate for life when we have to get up and walk a few feet to the kitchen and put up on a lever and we have water while they have to walk miles just to get alittle bucket full. and to think we are lazy to get up to go get water while they walk for it every day by the MILE. It just makes you want to do something about it i think this is a great project to do for these people Jay-z is doing the right this the video is just horrible to see they have to walk across a open sewer to get to school we sit on our buses and listen to our i-pods while we just relax. we all need to do something about it

I learned that they are much less fortunate than we are, here in the united states, and that they dont have that many good living resources around them.I think it is sad that these people do not have clean water because we have so much and we do not even realize it.They have to walk several miles just to have drinking water for the day but, its not even clean they have to put cleaning tablets in it just for it to be drink able. I think the video was a relly good way to express what th world is going through.

See thats how spoiled america is. We can just go to a local store and buy water and we have a lot of water. They can only have 1 tub full. and walk 2 miles just to get it.(everyday!) and plus the water that they get has diseases in it. But that was cool how he donated them a water system to drink CLEAN water.
