Storm Chasers Videos

What did you think about the storm chasers videos that we watched last week?  Would you like to be a storm chaser?  Do you think it would be an exciting career?  Where would you think you would need to live in order to be a storm chaser?

I thought about the storm chasers videos that they were every entertaining and intresting. I wouldnt like being a storm chaser because I would have to go onto very dangerous situations multiple times and I would be away from home days at a time maybe more. I think it would be exciting to be a storm chaser even though I dont want to be one because you get to study torandos and if you are lucky enough you can actually get to see one up close or possibly be in it. I think you dont realy need to live anywhere specific but you would have more expierence if you lived somewhere where torandos are common like Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Kansas...etc. I would like to watch more storm chasers videos in science class.

I think the storm chasers video was interesting. I dont think i would like to be a storm chaser because it is pretty dangerous . I think it will be an exciting career for people that are into tornadoes and other storms. You would need to live in an area with no hills ; flat land ; to be a storm chaser.

I thought the storm chasers videos were interesting to watch. I would not like to be a storm chaser just because I wouldn't want to take that risk of being in danger around very bad storms where I could possibly get hurt. Yes, I think it would be an exciting career because if you wanted to catch a storm and you've been trying hard and you finally caought it, you would probably be excited. To be a storm chaser I think you would need to live in a place that is most common with bad storms and tornado's like on the videos it was mainly Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahona, and Texas.

The storm chasers video was very different from anything that I have ever seen before. I thought that it was interesting how they built their own car and would drive straight into a tornado. Before I saw this video, I would have looked at them and thought that they were basically commiting suicide, but now that I have seen the show I have learned that they use bulletproof windows and such for safety and the car is basically indestructable. I personally would not like to be a storm chaser, I would rather be sitting in a safe spacious office than in a cramped car driving into tornadoes. I think it would definetly be an exciting career because they are always on the watch and new tornadoes are always forming. I think that you would need to live near Teaxas and those kid of states, not in Maine far away from tornado zones.

I agree with Rachel. Storm chasers can be exciting but dangerous. you could get to be up colse to a tornado and maybe even in a tornado

I would not like to be a strom chaser, because I would not like to risk my life to my job and it would be very very scary to me. Storm chasing would be a very exciting and scary career, chasing tornados and going through them. The storm chaser videos were very eye-opening. I think being a storm chaser sounds fun, because of all the excitement, but that comes with the benifits of science. I would say a storm chaser should live in the great plains, thats where all the tornados are.

The videos last week were awsome. I would love to be a storm chaser just for the exitment when i was younger I use to be scared of storms but now i love them. The career would be fun driving around chasing tornados in the huge tank. If you had to live somewhere i would say tornado valley or texas. A place that has no hills and is flat.

I agree with Rachel, being away from home all day, almost everyday drving around the country trying to catch a tornado in its tracks. It would take you away from your family alot, and if something would go wrong, you may be away from your family forever or be in the hospital from injuries.

PAPATHANAS,ANTHONY said...

iu agree with lexy to be a storm chaser it hads to be your thing that you love to do. Also lexy you can live in the some hilly places and still get tornadoes not all texas is flat and tornadoes still happen there.

I thought that being a storm chaser was very dangerous too but it also would be exciting career at the same time. Why do you think that Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas and Nebraska have so many torandos when we have very few?

i thought that those videos were exiting and challenging. i think you would have to have guts and a love of storms. i would not like to be a storm chaser because you dont always hit the storm you want and it would also be dangerous. i do think this job would be exiting though.

Ethan&Ted;
Texas isnt the place that has the most torndaos, there are tons of tornados outside of texas, so you would want to live around the center of them, because there could be an amazing tornado in another state and if you live in Texas, you may not get there in time.

Royer Rachel said...

@ Lexi:
I agree that being a storm chaser if what you have to love to do.But you can live in a hilly area and still have tornados because not all of the most common places where torandos happen are all flat.

George McFarren said...

I wouldn't want to be a storm chaser. I think it would be really cool but I still wouldn't want to be one. I think that those people are crazy. When I think about tornadoes I think about destruction. I would not want to even witness what a tornado would do to someones home or their property. I think that storm chasers really lke their job and there is nothing wrong with that I just don't want to be one. You need to live in a flat area where tornadoes are more common. I don't think I have heard about a tornado in Colorado or in anywhere that there are mountains or if it is really hilly. I would like to watch more videos in class.

Being that close to a tornado would just be crazy. In order to be a storm chaser you would need to be in areas common for tornados like places near texas or the great plains.

The storm chasers video was interesting but i wouldent want to be a storm chaser because it seems very dangerous. If this was my career it would be exiting to see tornados very close to were you are. If you wanted to see stomrs you should live near Texas, Kansas, Nebraska and more.

Rachel,
To answer your question I think we don't really have tornado's because we are not really close to big masses of water but texas is surrounded by water and thats mainly where the tornados were. I think they were in nebraska, oklahoma, and kansas because they are some what close to texas but i'm not exactly sure

Kilgore, Sydney said...

Alexandra i agree with you. This job would be very risky and having the idea of driving into the tornado i just crazy. Do you think that the car would survive though? Because tornados can cause serious damage and im not so sure this could even survive a tornado.

I thought that they were really interesting to see all the diferent tornadoes and how they were trying to "get inside" a tornadoe. I think that it would be really cool to be a storm chaser but i would probably be to scared of getting hurt. If i wasn't afraid i would definitly want to be one. It would definitly be an exciting carrer because you get to actully get close and see tornadoes,while some people may never see one in their life. You would have to live probablly inside of a trailer or just stay inside hotels because you are constintly moving to follow storms.

anonymous said...

being a storm chaser is a very dangerous job because you never know whats going to happen you might think that a storm is going to be in one place but its in another and you dont see it coming and you get sucked into the twister.there is dime sized hail usually when they go looking for a twister so they have to have a armored car to way them down from a twister and hail.

Park Deborah said...

uhm...crazy...i mean i guess it was kinda fun watching tornadoes and people taking videoes and pictures of it but still why are they doing it? for the fun? I don't see anything fun with risking my life...I would never want to a storm chaser and I don't think it's exciting. while everyone is running away from the tornado, the storm chasers go after it. My question is why they would want a job like that. You would have to live arould the plains. Like texas, Kansas and those states around there. I think storm chasers are crazy.

Kilgore, Sydney said...

Rachel i think that we do not have many tornados because our land is not very flat and ther weather they expierence is different than farther north.

Sheridan,Megan said...

Madison,
I agree with you that it would be a very scary but exciting job. Why do you think storm chasers like to be away from home all day and like to do this job ? I didn't really think that more tornados occuredn in flat areas rather than hilly, Io wonder why.

I think the Storm Chaser videos were very entertaining, but I wish we got to see the inside of a Tornadoe though and even watched the FULL video instead of the failure part we watched. I might like to be in like the TIV, not so much as the Scout where they have to run for their lives to get away from the storm and get pelted by hail the average size of Golf Balls. Defiantly an excting career. You would need to live around the Great Plain States, not exactly a good place to go sledding or skiing when there are no hills. You might see a few Dust Devils here and there while you go out to catch the little cousin-twice-removed of the Tornadoe. To think they saw what its like in a Tornadoe. How cool is that?!

When I saw the the Storm Chasers video I was amazed. I would absolutly love to be a storm chaser, even though I would be scared at first it would be so fun. I mean being that close to a tornado? I hate that they distroy things and homes but the fact of how they work is just amazing to me. Anywhere can really have a tornado, but I think the area of Texas and states around Texas has the most risk of tornados. My mom told me that she has witnessed a tornado when she was younger and so has my older sister. She said that there was a little one that didn't go on for long but she still saw one. Although I would run from a tornado, knowing that there are people with me and I'm safer than others in a car with the storm chasers I think that would be awesome.

I thought is was very very cool because all of the storms and the cool ictures and small little clips through out the entire video.Maybe but I think it is very dangerous and kinda of scary.Yes but you can easily get killled so for some people maybe not.I actually dont know maybe Huston,Texas????

i thought that the storm chasers video was very interesting.....but really dangerous too...that looks like a good adrenilene rush, but sometimes your limits would be tested, and i would hate to see someone get hurt...the scientists who do that are all really brave, and are risking alot to help reasherch for new information on how torado's are formed, and what damage one tornado can do to a human civilazation. i would think it would be cool to group up with other scientists and go out into tornado states and witness a tornado, but there are alot of cons that go with tornado chasing.....and i dont think most people would be able to handle it...

anonymous said...

i thought the videos were awsome they were very exciting i would not like to be a storm chaser cause it would be dangerous and yu should live whereever tornadoes happen.

I thought the storm chasers videos that we saw last week were very cool. Although, I would like to be a storm chaser, I just couldn't do it because you never know what will happen. Yes, I would think it is an interesing career to have. I think in order to be a storm chaser you would have to lie in these states: Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Texas, Missouri, and usually the tornado valley is in the mid-west.

klingelhoffer,sawyer said...

I think the storm chasers video was interesting and cool.no i would not like to be a storm chaser because it's very risky to chase storms like tornadoes. yes i think it would be an exciting career. i would guess that you would have to live in Texas or somewhere were it's flat grounded because tornadoes are more likely to touch down on a flat surface.

I love watching those shows! It is so cool how they make vehicles to adapt to those type of situations! I actually think it would be cool and I would love to be a storm chaser. It would certainly give you an adreneline rush. I wonder how much they get paid! Also, how much time do they put into being a storm chaser? I mean, they are risking their whole life to find more information about tornadoes. I would hate the feeling of failing if you choose the wrong storm like the people did in the in video, but I'd love the feeling of success. I guess there are a lot of pros and cons about being a storm chaser. But overall I would LOVE to have the opportunity to be one. I think you would need to live in the area by Texas, Oklahoma, etc. to be a storm chaser. So basically you would need to live in an area where tornadoes occur most.

I agree with Ryan on how tornados are cool but the devistation is awful. Also I agree on how the Job would be exiting but how it wouldn't be the job for us because it would be to dangorus.

I think it would be really exciting to be a storm chaser! I thought the videos were ok, but it seemed like we were just watching the same tornadoes over and over again. I think I would probably have to live in South Dakota or Texas (somewhere really flat) to be a storm chaser. Like out in the plains or something. I also think that being a storm chaser would take up a lot of time. Those people were gone for days at a time.

Bass,Zoey said...

@stephine o'leary

i agree with you, tornado chasing looks to be really fun and informational....but getting up close to a tornado could have serious consiquenses....

Buelterman,Abbey said...

I agree with Hunter because I also think the bestplace to live is Texas if you were a storm chaser because there is alot of dirt and old grass that if there was enough wind it could start a tornado!

I thought that thoes storm chaser videos were awesome and I wold like to watch more of those in class. I think that it would be awesome to be a storm chaser because you would experience things that would be so cool, but at the same time your taking a risk at your life but overall I realy want to be a storm chaser. I dont think that you would have to live anywhere specific but some places where you would catch tornados would be Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma and Nebraska those are just some of the states that there are frecuantly tornados. On Sunday and Monday the leader of the storm chasers team Sean Casey was at the museum center with his car TIV. He was there because they have a new film at the museum center called "Tornado Valley" or something like that and I will probally go see it over spring break.

I think that would look so funny!! But, why wouldn't you like to be a storm chaser? I personally think it would be awesome and so cool because if you could tell people you are the type of person that chases storms...it would just be awesome!

Buelterman,Abbey said...

@Zoey I agree with you because there is a big possability to have some serious consequences.

I thought the storm chasers video was very neat. I just think how a tornado looks is very cool. Although I think tornados look cool, I have a biiiig fear of them I hate tornado's. The fear I have is being blown away and being pulled into the storm. I get this fear from watching the wizard of oz, terrible movie. It would be exciting if I was not scared of them. I think you would need to live somewere southern such as texas or oklahoma.

I would never become a storm chaser althogh it would be an exciting and thrilling career i would be so frightened. I have seen whatdisaster storms could become and i want to stay as far away from them as possible. I think you would need to live in a place out west where there are more tornados for exampl i think that there are alot in Kansa but you wouldnt have one permadent home ou would probalby travel alot and not be able to have much of a choce where you went because if you would want good data you would have to be where the stom was.

@Rachel Royer
I agree it would be alot of fun to become a storm chaser but i also dont want to becme one because they are away from home and have to randomly leave out it would be hard because if you want the correct data then you would hav to leave miles from home unexpectedly. I would also like to learn more about storm chasers and watch more videos.

The video was very exciting but I don't think I would like that job. It would be exciting but would be very dangerous and aggravating job. The main reason anybody would want to be a storm chaser is if...
1. They were an extreme daredevil.
2. Would have to study weather most of your life and want to see a tornado up close.

What did you think about the storm chasers videos that we watched last week? I thought is was exciteing and it shows how much work it takes for people to prepare for a test. Would you like to be a storm chaser? If I could have one job or be a storm chaser if i made more money being a storm caser that is what i would do. Do you think it would be an exciting career? Yes but very frustarating as well. Where would you think you would need to live in order to be a storm chaser?Texas (Tornado Valley)

A place where they are mor frequent. mabey in a lab as well.

I don't think I would like to be a storm chaser, because I don't like getting close to dangerous storms. I understand the appeal, though. Storms are beautiful, and so mysterious because we don't know everything about them. My dad and I love to watch the lightning on our back porch whenever there's a storm nearby. I would love to be a storm chaser. It probably gives you a high rush of adrenaline every day you go out. It would also be VERY scary. To be a storm chaser you need to live in the great plains of America. Because it is the flattest part all over the United States.

@Rachel Royer

id need a lot equipment in order to be a storm chaser i think. it would probably be really expensive too. i wonder where i could even buy it? is it only in places where there are a lot of tornadoes?
